Lahore: Pakistan faced worst ever hockey defeat by the hosts Australia in their first match of the International Festival of Hockey at Melbourne’s State Netball Hockey Centre, said a PHF media release.

Australia beat the record four time World Champions’ by 9-1 goals, their worst ever defeat in international hockey. Holland had defeated Pakistan 9-2 at the 2006 Champions Trophy in Terrassa, Spain.

Australia, the reigning world champions, dominated the proceedings almost throughout; at times they toyed with the opponents.

Pakistan: Abubakr Mahmood
