Lahore: Pakistan Censor Board has banned the screening of Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor starrer Bollywood movie "PadMan".

After its big release on February 9, the Indian film suffered major setback from the neighbouring country where the censor board looks reluctant to allow the release. Both provincial and federal censor boards have denied issuing no-objection certificate (NOC) to screen PadMan.

The Bollywood flick showcases taboo topic of women menstruation awareness and is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham – a social activist who introduced low-cost sanitary pads in the localities of Tamil Nadu.

The movie directed by R. Balki it stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles.

Earlier, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer Padmaavat was allowed to release by the censor board despite criticism of distorting historical facts. The social activists and Pakistani film producers often criticise the film distributors for purchasing Bollywood movies that are against the local culture and traditions.
