COAS Bajwa in Kabul to attend Defence Conference

Rawalpindi: Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Kabul on Tuesday to attend the Chief of Defence (CHOD) Conference, said a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s public relations wing.

According to ISPR, the army chief is expected to meet US Central Command chief General Joseph Votel, Resolute Support Mission commander General John Nicholson and the Afghan army chief at the conference.

Commander US CENTCOM, Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and Afghan Army Chief are also attending the conference, the ISPR statement added.

Army Chief General Bajwa will participate in the high level defence conference in the Afghan capital. The senior military officers will discuss mutual security challenges, improve mutual relationships and foster security cooperation.

On Monday, newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ishan Mustafa Yurdakul called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

Earlier, newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ishan Mustafa Yurdakul called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Monday.

They discussed matters of mutual interest including regional security issues.

The two sides noted the exceptional mutual relations between the brotherly Nations and pledged to further improve the same.

Visiting dignitary also acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s contributions for peace and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost also called on General Bajwa and discussed matters of mutual interest and Pak-Iran border management with him.
