Contempt case: PTI Chairman challenges ECP's warrants in IHC
Contempt case: PTI Chairman challenges ECP's warrants in IHC
Published at: 2 month(s) ago

Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

On October 12, ECP issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI Chairman in a contempt of court case against him.

The petition states that the ECP has made him a target of political victimisation and exceeded its jurisdiction. It also states that the commission has violated his basic rights by issuing the warrants.

The five-member ECP, bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan, issued non-bailable arrest warrant and ordered the police to arrest Imran and produce Imran Khan before the commission on October 26.
