Srinagar: The brutal gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) has triggered nationwide outrage, inflamed communal tensions and shone a fresh critical light on the prevalence of sexual crimes.

Bollywood stars also broke the silence against such brutal acts. The stars including Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Sanjay Dutt took to their social media and condemned such incidents of child abuse.

Bollywood Diva Priyanka said in her tweet, "How many more children like baby Asifa will be sacrificed at the intersect of religion & politics? How many more children will have to suffer unimaginable crimes before we wake up? I’m disgusted. It’s time for swift action. We owe it to Asifa and to humanity. #justiceforAsifa."

Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt said, " We have failed as a society! Being a father, I am shaken and filled with anger reading about what happened to a 8 year old kid. My heart goes out to Asifa's family. I refuse to accept we really let THIS happen. Justice has to be served NOW. #JusticeforAsifa."

Anushaka Sharma expressed her deep grief in her message, "The cruelest form of evil is harming an innocent child. What is happening to the world we live in??? These people should be given the most severe punishment there is! Where are we heading as humanity? Shaken to my core.#JusticeforAsifa."

Akshay Kumar also said in his tweet, "Yet again we've failed as a society. Can't think straight as more chilling details on little Asifa's case emerge...her innocent face refuses to leave me. Justice must be served, hard and fast!"

Sonali Bendre Behl's tweet showed how shocked she was on this shameful incident, "Shame. Shame on us for letting religious & political issues come in the way of humanity. Shame on us for waking up to this heinous crime months later, after international media has highlighted it. Shame on us for not being able to protect the girls of our country. #JusticeForAsifa."

Grieving on her murder, every humane heart is aching and ripping apart on such heinous act.
