Govt decides to appoint Muhammad Zubair as Sindh governor

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided to appoint Muhammad Zubair as Sindh governor, PML-N senator Nehal Hashmi said Monday.

“I have learnt from Muhammad Zubair himself and different sources that Zubair is being made Sindh governor,”.

The decision comes after his predecessor Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui died earlier this month.

Muhammad Zubair is currently discharging his duties as Minister of State and Chairman of Privatization Commission.

Previously, he worked as Chairman of Board of Investment on 12th July 2013 to 17th December 2013. He was also a Part of PML- N Economic, Tax Reforms and Media Committees in 2012-2013.

Currently, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani is an acting Sindh Governor since demise of Siddiqui.

The 31st governor of Sindh had taken oath on November 11, 2016 replacing Dr Ishratul Ebad. He was admitted to hospital on the same day.

He got discharged on December 15 from the hospital after intensive care unit (ICU) was set up in the Governor House.

On January 11, owing to complaint of chest pain, Siddiqui was taken to hospital where he breathed his last. -
