Over 10,000 MW added to national grid: PM Abbasi

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that government has added ten thousand and five hundred megawatt electricity to the national grid in the last four and a half year.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of one hundred and forty seven megawatt Patrind Hydropower Project in Muzaffarabad on Friday.

The Prime Minister said the first phase of the Neelum Jhelum Power Project will start working by February next year. He said work on a number of hydropower projects including Kairot and Kohalla is in progress. He announced that the country will generate surplus power by 2030.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said PML-N government believes in practical work and not hallow slogans.

He said Gawadar is a forty-year old project but the present government operationalized it for boosting trade activities.

Prime Minister elaborated that Motorways and Express Ways from Khunjrab to Karachi are either in progress or near completion.

He congratulated people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir that Mansehra Muzaffarabad Mirpur Express Way under CPEC will bring prosperity and development to the region.

Earlier, AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan in their speeches thanked federal government for launching mega projects in different sectors in the State.

President Sardar Masood Khan appreciated Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for adopting unequivocal stance over Kashmir and Palestine at extra-ordinary summit of OIC in Turkey.

Talking to a delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry led by its president Zubair F. Tufail in Islamabad, Prime Minister said the government will continue providing every possible support to business community for putting in place a conducive and business friendly environment.

Matters pertaining to enhancement of country's exports came under discussion in the meeting.

The Prime Minister said all the Chambers of Commerce should come up with a comprehensive plan and suggestions regarding increasing exports within a rational timeframe.

The delegation expressed optimism regarding overall prospects of growth in the economy, as well as revival of exports, which are showing a robust growth of over ten percent.
