Karachi: A full dress rehearsal of the security arrangements for the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 3rd Edition held at National Stadium Karachi on February 11.

International consultants have arrived to check security arragements and make a report for Federation of International Cricketers’ Association.

At least 8,000 personnel of different law enforcement agencies are taking part in the rehearsal which will take place in two parts: the first leg of the rehearsal will stretch from the airport to the hotel where the teams will be staying; the second leg of the rehearsal will take place from the hotel to Karachi’s National Stadium.

“We hope the international security consultants are satisfied with our arragements,” said Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal while speaking to the media at National Stadium where he had gone for inspection. “But if they have recommendations [for us], those would also be implemented.”

Siyal said the Sindh government would provide foolproof security to the teams playing the PSL matches.

A high-level meeting of security officials and international consultants was also held on the same day where the former briefed the latter on arrangements that have been made so far.

Roads leading to the match site from Civic Centre, Dalmia, Karsaz, New Town were closed for traffic, while a large number of police and Rangers personnel were deployed in and around the stadium.

Moreover, fire brigade and ambulance were kept on a stand-by and a bomb disposal squad was checking vehicles going inside the stadium.

Security consultant tasked by the ICC, FICA and various international cricket boards arrived in Karachi to review security arrangements in the city for proposed final match of PSL.

Dickason was roped in by the PCB in an attempt to regain the international community's confidence in security arrangements in Pakistan. He was also involved in security arrangements for World XI team’s recent visit to Lahore.

Earlier, he came to Karachi in October 2017 to discuss security arrangements for the same match. During the visit, he had also met the chief minister and inspector general of Sindh.
